The Kyiv Academic Theater of Ukrainian Folklore "Berehynia" was created in 1988 on the initiative of Ukrainian folklorists. In 2004, it received the status of an academic theater due to its significant contributions to Ukrainian musical art. The theater actively promotes Ukrainian culture abroad, touring various countries including Germany, Poland, and Japan.
At an international competition in Johannesburg, the theater won five gold and one silver certificate, and in Pyongyang – two gold and two silver awards. The creative team of the theater consists of professional artists who work with traditional and folk instruments. In 1995, the theater started a children's ensemble called "Berehynka", which has won numerous festival awards. The theater stages national musical and choreographic heritage and reveals the cultural traditions of Ukraine. The repertoire includes concert programs and thematic performances based on folk rites, customs, songs and dances.
