The Memorial "Grieving Mother" was opened in 1975. The project was designed by the famous sculptor Volodymyr Dubinin.

The burial place of 1659 liberators of Zaporizhzhia is located at the site of the "Grieving Mother" Memorial. The architectural structure is a bronze figure of a grieving mother holding an oak branch in one hand and a scarf in the other. She embodies all women who did not live to see their sons, husbands, and brothers return from battle.

To the right of the figure is a granite wall with the names of the fallen soldiers engraved on it.
