Maternity hospital of H.B. Ber building

The house was built in the early 1910s at the initiative of Dr. H.B. Ber. It is an example of Nordic modernism with high architectural and planning qualities.

The institution provided free assistance to all mothers and had ophthalmological and surgical departments. The city authorities compensated the costs. The hospital was often visited by residents of the Mennonite colony of Shenwize. In 1914, it could accommodate 50 beds for junior officers.

The building has preserved its original purpose since its opening.
