The Botanical Garden named after Academician Alexander Fomin is one of the oldest botanical institutions in Ukraine and is very popular among Kyiv residents and guests. It is a research, educational, and environmental institution that aims to preserve, study, and enrich the plant resources of the region with species of local and world flora by creating, replenishing, and preserving botanical collections. This is where visitors can see the oldest magnolias and horse chestnuts in Kyiv, enjoy the spring bloom of bright yellow forsythia, pale pink Sakura, and fantastic rhododendrons. The botanical garden's collections include about 10 thousand species of various plants. The greenhouse complex contains numerous tropical and subtropical species, as well as palm trees, for which in 1977 the world's tallest 30-meter climatron was built.
