The Ukrainian National Chornobyl Museum in Kyiv, opened on April 25, 1992, is dedicated to the Chornobyl disaster of 1986. The museum is located in a specially reconstructed building of the Fire Tower, an architectural monument of the early 20th century, which played an important role during the liquidation of the consequences of the Chornobyl accident. The museum's exhibition includes about 7 thousand exhibits, among which are declassified documents, maps, photographs, monuments of folk architecture, as well as unique video materials and a diorama that demonstrates the state of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant before, during and after the accident. Every year, the museum is visited by tens of thousands of people, thematic exhibitions, lectures, meetings and other events are held, which help to preserve the memory of one of the largest human-made disasters in history.
