The National Museum of Literature of Ukraine began its work in 1986 and is the central museum covering all stages of the development of Ukrainian literature – from Kyivan Rus to the present day. The museum is located in a 19th-century architectural monument building, which was built in 1870. It houses a unique library where Ivan Franko worked, and also hosts numerous literary events, meetings, festivals and presentations. The museum's collection includes about 85,000 storage units, including ancient editions, unique old prints and photographs. The museum actively supports literary initiatives, such as the Children's Book Week and the program "For the Spiritual Revival of Ukraine".
