The Volodymyrkyi Cathedral is an Orthodox cathedral in Kyiv, before the creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, it was the main temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. The cathedral was built in 1862-1882. The initial project of the cathedral was drawn up by architects Ivan Strom and Pavlo Sparro; later, it was redesigned by the architect Oleksandr Beretti. The cathedral's uniqueness lies in its traditional, ancient architectural layout and seven domes crowning the structure. The idea of building the cathedral arose to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus. St. Volodymyr's Cathedral is also a significant relic site.
