Archangel Michael is considered the heavenly patron of Kyiv. His image is present on the coat of arms of the city. Maidan Nezalezhnosti is the main square not only of the capital, but also of all Ukraine. The monument to Archangel Michael is located at the Lach Gates, towering over the entire city. He seems to protect it from the enemy, embodying the hope, strength, and protection of Ukrainians. Sculpted by Anatoliy Kushch, the Archangel is depicted as a powerful man with large golden wings, holding a flaming sword in one hand and a shield in the other, ready to defend the city from any threat.
